Fall Planting

What a relief when the summer finally breaks and cooler fall weather comes to Texoma! You feel like getting out in the yard again, and it’s more than instinct. Fall is absolutely the best time to plant trees and shrubs. By planting now, you give your new plants time to get their roots established so they’ll be ready for the next hot summer.

Here at Smith’s, we use the fall weather to unload truckload after truckload of trees and shrubs. We have a great selection for fall planting, and we’re happy to help you choose the right plants for your landscape.

Here are our favorite shade trees for this area:

  • Bur Oak
  • Red Oak
  • Live Oak
  • Chinese Pistache
  • Cedar Elm
  • The best ornamental (small) trees are:
  • Yaupon Holly
  • Crape Myrtle
  • Redbud
  • Desert Willow
  • Little Gem Magnolia

Take advantage of this break between hot summer and the cold winds of winter to improve your landscape for years to come.
